Lab Information: Experimental Biomechanics Laboratory – The goal of our laboratory is to advance experimental biomechanics understanding by providing practical training to engineering and medical students and advancing the boundary of knowledge through applied basic science research. To achieve these goals we combine in vivo testing of human and animal subjects with cadaver and surrogate in vitro models to understand injury mechanisms and predict failure risk. Finally, our lab collaborates with clinicians to develop preventative and regenerative treatments for soft tissue damage and degeneration.

Educational Level: At least 60 credits towards a Bachelors Degree in Biomedical, Mechanical, or Robotics Engineering, or related discipline at LTU. Experience with workshop fabrication and biomechanics is preferred.

Job Responsibilities: Work with the Director, LTU technical staff, other graduate and undergraduate assistants as well as external physicians and industry representatives to further our academic research and applied projects in a dynamic and expanding environment. The applicant will be self-motivated and able to accept the challenge of this environment and represent themselves and the EBL to their utmost capabilities.

Assist in specimen preparation and mechanical testing data collection in the laboratory for multiple concurrent studies and provide proper documentation and organization of the collected data.

Build, test and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure reliability and validity of the data collection processes.

Assist in professional communication, such as abstract and report preparation.
