Contract CAD Work Opportunity

Comments Off on Contract CAD Work Opportunity

Beaumont orthopedic research lab is looking for a student interested in doing some contract CAD work with a Beaumont surgeon. The surgeon is designing some novel implantation using Nitinol and would like it professionally drafted with some CAD software like Solidworks.  The project is for a patent and subsequent commercialization, so this is a pretty unique opportunity that will expose the student to some immediate product development. The surgeon will pay the student either by the project or by the hour, on a freelance basis.

Interested students can contact Dr. Nasir or Dr. Li.

Immediate Internship Position at Beaumont Hospital

Comments Off on Immediate Internship Position at Beaumont Hospital

This was forwarded to me by our alum Michael Newton on behalf of Erin Baker. Please contact directly.

I lead the orthopaedic implant retrieval program at Beaumont Hospital’s Royal Oak, MI campus. Our program is expanding from a 3-hospital to 8-hospital collection this year. I am hoping to hire a Biomedical Engineering student (or similar degree) beginning in June 2016. The position would last through April/May 2017, and the student would be hired as 36-hour/week intern. However, the position may not require 36 hours/week every week.

I am looking for someone who is hands-on and motivated. Ideal candidate has an interest in biomaterials, enjoys microscopy, learning new equipment/techniques, a research lab environment in a hospital setting, writing and other forms of communication (e.g. presentations, abstracts), and working in a small team (our lab/department is staffed by 8 engineers and 2 research coordinators). Biology and/or musculoskeletal anatomy knowledge preferred.

This is a great position for students interested in applying to medical and graduate school, or interested in research careers post-graduation.

Please have any interested student email me directly (erin.baker@beaumont.org<mailto:erin.baker@beaumont.org>), with their resume, cover letter, and a technical writing sample. Interviews will be scheduled immediately.

Thanks,
Erin
