Denso would like to invite 30 students from LTU to attend the University Program at the SAE International Conference in Downtown Detroit on Wednesday,  April 5, 2017.  They will provide bus transportation to and from the LTU campus to Cobo Center for students who first register to participate.

In a world of increasing interconnectivity, Motus is actively bringing biomechanics to the masses through wearable technologies, motion capture, and amazing product experiences.

Responsibilities:

· Join Motus’ Physics Engine team, to innovate and integrate world-class biomechanics algorithms into mass-market products.
· Research and apply new mathematical techniques to analyze data captured from Inertial Measurement Units, Force Sensors, and Electromyography Sensors.
· Research and apply advanced biomechanical principles to skeletal data obtained from 3D Optical Motion Capture, 6DOF Inertial Measurement Units, and 2D Computer Vision Science outputs.
· Assist Motus’ Biomechanics Lab in data collection during product validation and testing.
· Perform robust testing and validation for all developed biomechanics algorithms and shipped products.

Qualifications:
· B.S./M.S./or Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technology field.
· Previous experience in a clinical Biomechanics Laboratory.
· Have developed software for a previous or existing product on the market.
· Experience in the field of 3D dynamics, biomechanics, wearable technology, motion capture, force plates, inverse dynamics, advanced numerical methods, and inertial sensor systems.

Preferred Skills:
· Passionate towards sports and human movement.
· Highly proficient with Matlab and C software languages.
· Ability to work in an autonomous, fast-paced startup environment.
· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

A Summer Research Experience for Undergraduates

If you are an undergraduate student interested in creating and using technology to transform the lives of people with disabilities, this program is for you. This is an opportunity to explore a career path that is meaningful and significant and touches lives. We are looking for students at all undergraduate levels majoring in engineering, computer science, or a related area.

You will be immersed in a community of undergraduate researchers, graduate students, engineering mentors, health care professionals, and, most importantly, people with disabilities. Together you will work on research projects to restore movement to people with paralyzed arms, develop new prosthetic legs, help improve balance in older adults, and explore the mechanics of injured joints. For ten weeks during the summer you will live at Cleveland State University and work in research labs at CSU and in hospitals in Cleveland.

Laboratory Overview

The Office of Science and Engineering Laboratories (OSEL) is the laboratory of the Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). OSEL performs product testing; develops reliable standardized test methods for CDRH and industry use; performs anticipatory scientific investigations on emerging technologies; contributes laboratory data to national and international standards used in CDRH decision making; provides scientific and technical training for CDRH staff members; and maintains laboratory collaborations and relationships with scientific researchers in academia and other Federal laboratories.

Please note we are not accepting applications for recent graduates looking for full-time, long-term positions. This is a temporary position only.

Project Overview

The project involves performing mechanical bench tests to simulate failure of pediatric growing rod devices used in children with severe scoliosis. The internship will require extensive amounts of mechanical testing, fixture development (CAD software), sample preparation, and data analysis.

Key Qualifications

 Enrolled in a mechanical or biomedical engineering program with strong grades in mechanics/biomechanics and biomaterials courses

 Lab experience with mechanical testing systems such as MTS or Instron is highly recommended

 Independent worker

 Critical-thinking skills

The Naval Research Enterprise Internship Program (NREIP) provides an opportunity for students to participate in research at a Department of Navy (DoN) laboratory during the summer.

The goals of NREIP are to encourage participating students to pursue science and engineering careers, to further education via mentoring by laboratory personnel and their participation in research, and to make them aware of DoN research and technology efforts, which can lead to employment within the DoN.

NREIP provided competitive research internships to approximately 590 college students last summer. Participating students spend ten weeks during the summer conducting research at approximately 36 DoN laboratories.
